HyLife unit Tritek seeks extension of exclusive plan periods

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., Aug. 24 – HyLife Foods subsidiary Tritek International Inc. is seeking an extension of its exclusive periods to file and solicit votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to a motion filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company asked to extend the exclusive plan filing period through Nov. 23 from Aug. 25 and the exclusive solicitation period through Jan. 22 from Oct. 24.

The company has filed a plan, and the confirmation hearing is scheduled for Oct. 5.

Tritek said that given the progress it has made to date with respect to the plan, the extension will preserve the status quo while the confirmation process runs its course.

“If a competing Chapter 11 plan were to be filed during the exclusive solicitation period and before the effective date of the plan, there would be a disruptive and detrimental effect on these Chapter 11 cases and all interested parties,” the company said in the motion.

A hearing on approval of the exclusivity extension is scheduled for Sept. 18.

HyLife Foods is a pork processor based in La Broquerie, Man. U.S.-based subsidiary Tritek filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy on April 27 under case number 23-10520.
