Free Speech Systems now has until late March to file a plan
By Sarah Lizee
Olympia, Wash., Feb. 15 – Free Speech Systems LLC has been granted an extension on its deadline to file a Chapter 11 plan, according to an order filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.
The deadline is now March 27, pushed back from Feb. 17.
As previously reported, Free Speech, owned by Alex Jones, who has also filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy, is currently in mediation with families of Sandy Hook shooting victims and PQPR Holdings Ltd., LLC, which asserts a claim secured by substantially all assets of the debtor.
Judge Marvin Isgur is leading the mediation process.
“The mediation is ongoing and, unless judge Isgur declares an impasse, likely to continue for months as the parties explore the possibility of settlement,” Free Speech previously said in a motion seeking more time to submit a plan.
The company also received an extension of interim access to the cash collateral of PQPR. A further hearing is scheduled for March 27.
Austin, Tex.-based Free Speech Systems filed its bankruptcy case on July 29, 2022 under Chapter 11 case number 22-60043.
