Mainstream Renewable Power obtains $760 million to build three wind farms in South Africa

Charlotte, N.C., Feb. 12 – Mainstream Renewable Power announced $760 million of financing for three wind farms in South Africa with a combined capacity of 360 MW.

The debt was arranged and underwritten by Barclays and the Development Bank of Southern Africa, according to a news release.

Construction on the wind farms is expected to begin later this month.

Mainstream is an independent developer of renewable energy projects with a development pipeline of more than 17,000 MW globally. The company is currently operating and constructing solar and wind farms across Ireland, South Africa, Chile and Canada. Its offices are in Berlin, Cape Town, Chicago, Dublin, Glasgow, Johannesburg, London, Santiago and Toronto.
