Wrigley shareholders to decide Mars merger on Sept. 25

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Aug. 4 - Shareholders of Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. will vote on the company's merger agreement with Mars, Inc. at a special meeting on Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. ET in Chicago.

Record date for the meeting is July 28, a Wrigley news release stated.

In April, Mars agreed to acquire Wrigley for $80 per share in a $23 billion deal to take the company private.

Wrigley is a Chicago manufacturer of gum and confections.

McLean, Va.-based Mars produces confections and other products. It operates three plants in Illinois, including a chocolate confectionery plant in Oak Park.
