Miami Medical Center asks court to extend plan solicitation period

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Nov. 27 – Miami International Medical Center LLC, which does business as Miami Medical Center, requested a 45-day extension of its exclusive period for soliciting votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to a motion filed Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida.

Specifically, the medical center asked the court to extend its exclusive solicitation period through Jan. 26 from Dec. 12.

As previously reported, Miami Medical filed its plan of liquidation and related disclosure statement on Oct. 1. The disclosure statement hearing is scheduled for Thursday.

“While the debtor is confident it will obtain approval of the disclosure statement on November 29, 2018, it will require more time to solicit acceptances given the notice periods required by the [Bankruptcy Code],” the motion said.

The Miami-based company does business as Miami Medical Center. The company filed bankruptcy on March 9, 2018 under Chapter 11 case number 18-12741.
