MSRB names municipal securities director Kane, deputy director Olsen

By Tali Rackner

Norfolk, Va., May 20 – The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board announced that Jessica Kane has been promoted to director of the agency’s office of municipal securities, and Rebecca J. Olsen has been named deputy director, according to two press releases.

Kane has served as deputy director since April 2014 and oversaw all aspects of the office. She previously served as senior special counsel to the director.

“Jessica is a strong leader with sound judgment and great dedication who will work tirelessly on behalf of investors,” Securities and Exchange Commission chair Mary Jo White said in the release. “She is the right person to lead the office of municipal securities as the agency continues to play a crucial role in overseeing the municipal securities market.”

In her new position, Olsen will continue to play the role of overseeing all aspects of the office.

“Rebecca’s extensive experience in municipal securities will be invaluable as she takes on this new leadership role,” White said in a separate release. “We will continue to rely on her very sound judgment and expertise in this important area.”

Olsen has served as chief counsel since April 2014 and was responsible for reviewing MSRB rulemaking and analysis of disclosure policy issues. She also served as the office’s liaison to the division of enforcement’s municipal securities and public pensions unit.
