Moody's keeps Motorola on watch

Moody's Investors Service said it will consider in its pending review of Motorola Inc.'s ratings the company's announced intentions to explore options to improve its mobile devices business. These options may include separation of the business from the remainder of the company. Details and timing of the exploration are unclear at this time.

The agency placed the company's ratings on review for possible downgrade on Jan. 24 after continued delays in turning around the handset business and the company's downward guidance for the first quarter. As part of the ongoing review, Moody's said it will evaluate the impact of any proposed strategic initiatives on the company's credit profile and debtholders.
