Moody’s rates Mitsubishi UFJ notes Aa3

Moody's Japan K.K. said it assigned an Aa3 rating to the senior notes issued by Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corp.

The outlook is stable.

Moody’s said it assigns long-term ratings of Aa3 to Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking, one of the major companies of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc. (MUFG, unrated).

The Aa3 ratings incorporate a three-notch uplift from the bank’s baseline credit assessment of a3, due to Moody’s assessment of a very high probability of parental support in times of stress, given the bank's importance to MUFG and Japan’s financial system.
