MassMutual Barings Dynamic Allocation Fund uses multi-asset strategy

By Toni Weeks

San Diego, Dec. 14 - MassMutual's Retirement Services Division has launched the MassMutual Barings Dynamic Allocation Fund, a new fund that features portfolio management by and the dynamic multi-asset strategy of Baring International Investment Ltd., an affiliate of MassMutual.

MassMutual said in a press release that it believes the fund can be a solid addition to retirement plan line-ups and is making it available to the company's Retirement Services clients and their advisers.

The fund will seek positive total real return by combining investment types from across the risk/return spectrum. The portfolio includes a variety of asset types including, among others, stock and bond investments from developed and emerging economies, real estate and commodities. Portfolio managers will not be limited to one asset or sector, allowing them to tactically increase exposure to investments with higher growth potential or defensive alternatives, as necessary.

"Markets may deliver returns unevenly through the business cycle, so a multi-asset approach can be effective in helping balance risk and return for investors, with reduced volatility, through a combination of strategic and tactical asset allocation," Mike Eldredge, vice president of investment management within Mass Mutual's Retirement Services Division, said in the release.

MassMutual is a provider of life, disability income and long-term care insurance as well as retirement plans and is based in Springfield, Mass.
