Seidman nominates himself, two others for election to Massbank board

Charlotte, N.C., Dec. 20 - Massbank Corp. investor Lawrence B. Seidman nominated himself, Thomas C. Goggins, and Welles C. Hatch for election to the company's board of directors at the company's next annual meeting of shareholders.

Seidman notified the board of his nominations in a letter included as part of a schedule 13D filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Seidman is a principal with Seidman & Associates, LLC as well as a director of Union Center National Bank and Center Bancorp Inc.

Goggins is the co-founder and director of research for Global Long Short Fund of Fontana Capital in Boston.

Hatch is the vice president and chief financial officer of Airdialog, LLC which does business as Linear Air in Concord, Mass.

On Nov. 1 Seidman reiterated his recommendation that the company accelerate share repurchases and consider a possible Dutch auction in a letter to company chairman and president Gerard H. Brandi.

Seidman and the reporting persons beneficially own 294,714 shares, or about 6.90%, of Massbank's outstanding stock.

Massbank is a Reading, Mass., bank holding company.
