Goldman plans callable monthly buffered range accrual notes on Russell

Madison, Wis., April 1 - Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. plans to price callable monthly buffered Russell 2000 index-linked range accrual notes due Jan. 30, 2019, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Interest will accrue at a rate of 6% per year for each day that the index closes at or above 80% of the initial level. Interest will be payable monthly.

The payout at maturity will be par if the index falls by up to 20%. Otherwise, investors will lose 1% for each 1% decline in the index beyond the 20% buffer.

The notes will be callable at par on any interest payment date beginning April 30, 2014.

Goldman Sachs & Co. is the underwriter.

The notes are expected to price on April 25 and settle on April 30.

The Cusip number is 38141GRU0.
