Filmed Entertainment requests 60-day exclusivity extension amid talks

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Dec. 8 – Filmed Entertainment Inc. requested an extension of its exclusive periods for filing and soliciting votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to a motion filed Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

The company wants to extend its exclusive filing period through Feb. 6 from Dec. 8 and the solicitation period through April 6 from Feb. 6.

Filmed Entertainment said it is in discussions with its asset purchaser and official committee of unsecured creditors to resolve the committee’s case conversion motion and sale objection.

“The requested extensions will further the debtor’s goal of promptly filing a viable liquidating plan upon approval of the sale,” the motion said.

A hearing is scheduled for Dec. 29.

Filmed Entertainment subsidiary Columbia House is a New York-based direct marketer. The company filed bankruptcy on Aug. 10 under Chapter 11 case number 15-12244.
