Moody’s rates Mitsubishi UFJ Trust bonds A1

Moody's Japan K.K. said it assigned an A1 rating to Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corp.’s $1.25 billion senior unsecured bonds due on Oct. 19, 2020.

The outlook is stable.

The agency also assigned A1 long-term deposit and debt ratings.

Moody’s said the rating incorporates a two-notch uplift from the bank's baseline credit assessment of a3, due to the assessment of a "very high" probability of government support in times of stress, given the bank's importance to Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc. (MUFG, A2 stable) and Japan's (A1 stable) financial system.
