Home Interiors disclosure hearing delayed, expected to be rescheduled for August

By Jennifer Lanning Drey

Portland, Ore., June 16 - Home Interiors & Gifts Inc.'s hearing for approval of the disclosure statement for its plan of reorganization has been pushed back to an undetermined date, likely to be in August, according to a source familiar with the case.

The hearing was originally scheduled to begin June 16 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas but was adjourned at the request of the company and its official committee of unsecured creditors.

According to court documents, Home Interiors proposed a hearing date of July 17, but the creditors committee said it needed until August to complete work necessary to fulfill its obligations and to avoid being forced to file precautionary objections to the disclosure statement due to not having adequate time to evaluate the related issues.

The court agreed to push back the hearing but has not yet set a date.

Home Interiors & Gifts is a Dallas-based integrated manufacturer and distributor of home decorative accessories. The company filed for bankruptcy on April 29. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-31961.
