Hayes-Lemmerz gets extension for votes on reorganization plan

By Carlise Newman

Chicago, March 28 - Hayes Lemmerz International Inc. said Friday that it has moved to extend the deadline for submitting votes on its plan of reorganization to April 4 from March 28. The extension covers two classes of its creditors: holders of the pre-petition credit facility secured claims, and holders of synthetic facility secured claims. The extension provides the creditors additional time to complete their evaluation of the plan.

The supplier of automotive parts said it intends to continue to work with its key creditor constituents and is optimistic that the discussions will result in a consensus regarding the plan. The confirmation hearing is set for April 9.

Northfield, Mich.-based Hayes Lemmerz and its subsidiaries located in the United States and one subsidiary in Mexico filed voluntary petitions for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the bankruptcy code in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware on December 5, 2001.
