A&P net loss grows to $63.65 million in Aug. 14 to Sept. 10 period

Pittsburgh, Nov. 3 - The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. (A&P) reported a net loss of $63.65 million on sales of $551.44 million for the period of Aug. 14 to Sept. 10, according to its monthly operating report filed Thursday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

Those figures compare with a net loss of $34.4 million posted for the period of July 17 through Aug. 13 on sales of $529 million.

The company had $301.57 million in cash and cash equivalents at Sept. 10, down from $332.6 million on Aug. 13.

A&P, a Montvale, N.J.-based operator of supermarkets, filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 12, 2010. Its Chapter 11 case number is 10-25459.
