Des Moines, Aug. 2 - Thomas Weisel Partners Group, Inc. has hired Alex Lehmann as a principal in capital markets, according to a company release.

Lehmann will be based in New York and responsible for expanding the firm's origination efforts across equity and equity-linked products.

Lehmann previously worked at Merrill Lynch & Co. as a director in equity capital markets in New York. Before that he worked at UBS Securities LLC in equity capital markets and graduated from Dartmouth College with honors.

"With 10 years of equity capital markets experience, Alex will expand our capacity to originate and execute financings and advise clients across our covered sectors. We look forward to his contributions and are pleased to add dedicated capital markets capabilities in New York to compliment our San Francisco headquarters," Bill McLeod, director of capital markets, said in the release.

The company also hired Richard Wood as a vice president in capital markets based in San Francisco.

Wood will focus on private placements and PIPE/registered direct transactions, working with Seth Rubin, director of private capital markets.

Wood was previously a vice president in investment banking at Cascadia Capital. Before that he worked at Piper Jaffray and graduated from Seattle University.

Thomas Weisel is a San Francisco-based investment bank.
