Freedom Communications requests three-month exclusivity extension

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Dec. 28 - Freedom Communications Holdings, Inc. requested an extension to its exclusive periods for filing a plan of reorganization and soliciting votes on the plan, according to a filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company wants to extend its exclusive filing period to March 30 from Dec. 30 and the solicitation period to May 30 from Feb. 28.

"Although the debtors are pleased with their progress so far and have been able to file a proposed plan well within the initial 120 day exclusive period, the debtors need an additional extension of the exclusive periods in order to maintain their progress toward a consensual plan of reorganization," the company said in the motion.

A hearing is scheduled for Feb. 18.

Freedom Communications, an Irvine, Calif., information and entertainment company, filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 1. Its Chapter 11 case number is 09-13046.
