Baltimore archbishop secures lengthy exclusivity extension

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., Jan. 30 – The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Baltimore secured a 120-day extension of its exclusive periods to file and solicit votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to an order filed Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland.

The court extended the exclusive solicitation period through July 25 and the exclusive solicitation period through Sept. 23.

The debtor said it plans to start adversary proceedings against insurers to facilitate and, if needed, litigate a global resolution of all the debtor’s insurance coverage issues.

The archbishop said the outcome of this will, in large part, guide the debtor in the drafting of its ultimate plan of reorganization.

The Baltimore-based archbishop filed bankruptcy on Sept. 29 under Chapter 11 case number 23-16969.
