Sandy Road Farms’ bankruptcy case converted to Chapter 7

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., April 30 – Sandy Road Farms, LLC’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy case was converted to Chapter 7 at the company’s request, according to an order filed Monday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Kansas.

The company had said in the motion seeking conversion that there is little, if any, benefit for the debtor to remain in Chapter 11.

The residual assets of the estate can be liquidated in Chapter 7, including the prosecution and disposition of avoidance claims, Sandy Road Farms had said.

The company said most of the avoidance claims involve potential preferences arising out of transfers to third-party suppliers and vendors.

The Plains, Kan.-based agricultural company filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Aug. 1, 2022 under case number 22-40446.
