Bank of Stockton increases stake in Capital Corp. of the West

Charlotte, N.C., Feb. 20 - The Bank of Stockton increased its stake in Capital Corp. of the West with the purchase of 60,000 shares of the company's common stock for $1,202,228 on the open market from Feb. 9 through Feb. 16, according to a schedule 13D filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Its latest purchase gives Bank of Stockton beneficial ownership of 1,229,911 shares, or 11.46%, of Capital Corp.

The California-based commercial bank said it made the purchases as an investment and has no plans at this time to become active in the issuer's business.

Capital Corp. of the West is the Merced, Calif., holding company for County Bank.
