Sandler O-Neill reports 5.73% stake in Cape Fear Bank Corp.

Charlotte, N.C., April 17 - Investors led by Sandler O'Neill Asset Management, LLC acquired 38,700 shares of Cape Fear Bank Corp. through a series of buy and sell transactions between March 11 and April 7.

The shares were priced from $8.55 to $9.72 each, according to a schedule 13D filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The investors beneficially own 220,000 shares, or 5.73%, of the Wilmington, N.C., Cape Fear Bank holding company.
