S&P: Alfa-Bank to positive

S&P said it revised the outlook on JSC Alfa-Bank to positive from stable.

The agency also said it affirmed the bank’s BB long-term and B short-term counterparty credit ratings.

S&P also said it affirmed the bank’s ruAA Russia national scale rating.

The agency also said it revised the outlook on bank owner ABH Financial Ltd. to positive and affirmed its B+ long-term and B short-term counterparty credit ratings.

The outlook revision reflects an opinion that Alfa-Bank has maintained a higher quality risk profile in recent years, which has proved to be more resilient than its peers despite the ongoing economic problems besetting the Russian economy, S&P said.

The group's exposure to Ukraine has reduced significantly over last several years due to significant provisions for loan impairment, the agency said, and debt repayments.
