Buffets committee gets court OK to hire Greenberg Traurig as counsel

By Sheri Kasprzak

New York, May 10 – Buffets, LLC’s official committee of unsecured creditors received court approval Tuesday to hire Greenberg Traurig, LLP as its general counsel, said an order from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Texas.

The hiring is retroactive to March 22.

As counsel, Greenberg Traurig will advise the committee in its consultations with the company; help with committee investigations and claims analysis; represent the committee in case matters like obtaining credit, assets sales and contract and lease assumptions and rejections; appear in court and prepare court pleadings.

The committee and Greenberg have agreed to a blended rate of $525 per hour for work done in connection with the Buffets case.

Based in Hollywood Park, Texas, Buffets operates a chain of buffet-style restaurants. The company re-entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy on March 7 under the case number 16-50557.
