Xerium reports $2.38 million first-quarter income from operations

Pittsburgh, May 14 - Xerium Technologies, Inc. reported $2.38 million of income from operations for the quarter ended March 31 on $135.02 million in net sales, according to a 10-Q filed Friday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

For the quarter ended March 31, 2009, the company posted $11.74 million of income from operations on $116.5 million in net sales.

The net loss for the first quarter of 2010 was $30.16 million, widening from a $9.45 million net loss for the same period of 2009.

Xerium had $21.89 million in cash and cash equivalents at March 31, down from $23.04 million at Dec. 31.

Xerium, a Raleigh, N.C.-based manufacturer of industrial textiles and rolls used primarily in the paper production process, filed for bankruptcy on March 30 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. The Chapter 11 case number is 10-11031.
