Van Kampen's Series 1216 registers Inflation Hedge Portfolio units

San Diego, March 26 - Van Kampen Unit Trusts, Series 1216 has registered units of its Inflation Hedge Portfolio, Series 5, according to an S-6 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The depositor is Houston-based Van Kampen Funds Inc.

The trust will seek above-average capital appreciation by investing in a portfolio of exchange-traded funds and closed-end investment companies that invest in domestic and foreign stocks, fixed-income securities, commodities, Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities, master limited partnerships and real estate investment trusts.

The $10 units will each carry a maximum sales charge of 3.95%, consisting of a 1% initial sales charge, a 2.45% deferred sales charge and a 0.5% creation and development fee. The sales charge may be reduced on a sliding scale to 2.45% depending on the amount of the investment.

The trust will have its inception date in May.
