Symphony Technology outbid again in quest to acquire MSC.Software

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Sept. 22 - MSC.Software Corp. said third-party equity firms upped their offer for MSC on Monday to $8.30 per share in cash from $8.15.

As previously reported, a Symphony Technology Group affiliate matched the unnamed equity firms' $8.15-per-share offer last week.

MSC agreed in July to be acquired by Symphony for $7.63 per share prior to the equity firms' superior offer.

The latest offer from the equity firms has also been deemed superior, an MSC news release said.

Symphony, a Palo Alto, Calif., strategic private equity firm, has five business days to respond to the $8.30-per-share offer.

MSC is a Santa Ana, Calif., simulation software company.
