Private investment firm makes offer for Nuclear Solutions, plans growth in the alternative energy market

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Dec. 26 - Inter-Americas, Inc. offered $110 million to purchase Nuclear Solutions, Inc. in an unsolicited bid for the company.

In its Dec. 21, letter to Nuclear Solutions, Inter-Americas said it intended to buy "all outstanding common stock (on a fully diluted basis), assets, technologies, current and future business operations" of the company as well as its wholly owned subsidiary Fuel Frontiers, Inc.

"Inter-Americas' acquisition of Nuclear Solutions will allow for greater facilitation of technologies and businesses within our consortium of companies," Inter-Americas president Larry Romano said in a news release.

"The integration of Fuel Frontiers' plasma conversion technology with Full Circle Energy, Inc. thermal technologies, one of Inter-Americas' consortium companies, will create greater opportunities for expansion and the capturing of market share within the fast-growing alternative energy markets."

Nuclear Solutions engages in the research, development, and commercialization of product technologies and processes for homeland security and defense, nuclear remediation, synthetic ethanol production and nano-technology applications and is based in Washington, D.C.

Inter-Americas is a private financial resources and investment company based in Woodstock, Ill.
