NT Equity Long/Short Strategies Fund launches; Zanolla to manage

By Toni Weeks

San Diego, Dec. 30 - Northern Trust announced the launch of the NT Equity Long/Short Strategies Fund, a new "fund-of-funds" that will expose investors to alternative investment strategies.

According to an N-2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the fund seeks to achieve attractive risk-adjusted returns through investments in an equity long/short-focused portfolio of assets.

The fund will invest in a group of funds or other pooled investment vehicles managed by investment advisers in order to provide investors with exposure to alternative investment strategies.

The portfolio manager will be Anthony M. Zanolla, the senior vice president of Hedge Fund Investments for Northern Trust.

Shares of the fund will not carry a sales load. Management fees will be 1.25% per year of the fund's net asset value. Including other administrative expenses and acquired fund fees, the total annual expenses of the fund are expected to be 3.54%.

The fund's investment adviser is Stamford, Conn.-based Northern Trust Co. of Connecticut.
