Archibald inks preliminary agreement to sell Fannie May/Fanny Farmer brands

Washington, Jan. 14 - Alpine Confections has signed a preliminary agreement to buy certain assets of Chicago-based Archibald Candy Corp. including the Fannie May and Fanny Farmer brands. The Laura Secord brand is not affected the agreement.

Specific terms were not released.

Archibald will close all of its Fannie May and Fanny Farmer brands.

Alpine, based in Utah, has four production plants in the United States and Canada. Its other brands include Mrs. Fields and Hallmark Chocolatier.

Paragon Capital Partners LLC advised Archibald in the transaction.
