Holtzman may seek to influence Lakeland Industries

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Dec. 14 - Lakeland Industries, Inc. investors led by Seymour Holtzman and Holtzman Opportunity Fund, LP are considering nominating one or more people for election to the company's board of directors and soliciting proxies or written consents in connection with the nominations.

The investors are also considering contacting other shareholders "to discuss, among other things, the concerns of shareholders, the election of directors, the operations of the issuer, and ways to maximize shareholder value," according to a schedule 13D filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Holtzman may also present proposals to amend certain provisions of Lakeland's restated certificate of incorporation and the company's by-laws, the filing stated.

The reporting persons beneficially own 395,661 shares, or 7.16%, of the Ronkonkoma, N.Y.-based safety garment manufacturer.
