Credit Suisse Mexico Credit Opportunities Trust announces launch

By Toni Weeks

San Diego, Nov. 1 - Credit Suisse AG has launched a new emerging markets-focused, closed-end-structured credit trust, the Credit Suisse Mexico Credit Opportunities Trust, according to a press release.

The first product of its type for Credit Suisse in Mexico, the trust has issued the peso equivalent of $420 million of equity securities, known as Certificados de Capital de Desarrollo, or CKDs, on the Mexican Stock Exchange.

The trust seeks to capture opportunities presented by structural inefficiencies in the Mexican credit market through investments in a diversified portfolio of alternative assets with debt-like characteristics.

The portfolio management team will be led by Andres Borrego, who was previously in the investment bank's emerging markets group, and includes Manuel Ramos, formerly head risk manager/trader for the LatAm financing group within the investment banking division.

Credit Suisse is a financial services provider with headquarters in Zurich.
