Concentra to separate Health Services, Network Services into two independent companies

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., May 8 - Concentra Operating Corp.'s parent company, Concentra Inc., plans to separate its two principal operating segments - Health Services and Network Services - into two companies. A newly formed, wholly owned subsidiary, Viant Holdings, Inc., will acquire and independently operate the Health Network Services business.

Concentra Operating will be merged with and into Concentra, which will continue as the parent company for its Health Services business, according to a company news release.

The common shares of Viant will be distributed to Concentra's shareholders. Concentra's current president and chief executive officer, Daniel J. Thomas, will lead Viant as CEO, with Thomas J. Bartlett serving as president.

Concentra will retain its Auto Injury Solutions business. Leading Concentra, in addition to other existing senior officers, will be James M. Greenwood as CEO and W. Keith Newton as president and chief operating officer.

Concentra is an Addison, Texas, provider of services designed to contain health care and disability costs.
