CompX shareholder reports 32% stake

Charlotte, N.C., Jan. 7 - CompX International, Inc. investors led by Harold C. Simmons and Valhi Inc. reported the purchase of 17,085 shares of the company's stock in a schedule 13D filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The shares were acquired between Oct. 30 and Dec. 22 at prices from $4.91 to $7.00, the filing said.

Simmons beneficially owns 755,104 shares, or 32%, of the Dallas-based company's outstanding shares.

CompX manufactures security products, precision ball bearing slides and ergonomic computer support systems used in a variety of industries.
