CompuCom acquired by Court Square Capital from Platinum Equity
By Lisa Kerner
Charlotte, N.C., Oct. 3 - Platinum Equity sold its portfolio company CompuCom Systems Inc. to an affiliate of Court Square Capital Partners in a transaction valued at about $628 million.
The companies first announced the deal in July.
Platinum Equity acquired CompuCom, a Dallas-based IT solutions provider, in the firm's first public-to-private transaction on Oct. 1, 2004.
"CompuCom was an outstanding investment for Platinum," Platinum Equity chairman and chief executive officer Tom Gores said in a company news release.
"Our subsequent acquisition and integration of General Electric's IT Solutions business contributed greatly to CompuCom's overall success, which we expect to continue under Court Square."
CompuCom and Platinum Equity were advised by Bingham McCutchen, while Bear Stearns & Co. and Dechert LLP advised Court Square Capital.
Platinum Equity, based in Beverly Hills, Calif., specializes in the merger, acquisition and operation of IT, telecommunications, logistics and manufacturing companies.
Court Square is a New York-based private equity firm focused on leveraged buyout transactions in the middle market.
