Two Columbia municipal funds to merge into Columbia Tax-Exempt Fund

By Toni Weeks

San Diego, Sept. 13 - The boards of trustees of the Columbia Massachusetts Tax-Exempt Fund and the Columbia Connecticut Tax-Exempt Fund approved the reorganization of the funds into the Columbia Tax-Exempt Fund, according to a 497 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The mergers are expected to be tax-free events for federal income tax purposes and are subject to shareholder approval in meetings that will be held in the first half of 2013.

Boston-based Columbia Management Investment Advisers, LLC is the investment manager of the funds.
