WaMu asks court for more time to file schedules of assets, liabilities

By Jennifer Lanning Drey

Portland, Ore., Oct. 3 - Washington Mutual, Inc. asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware to extend the amount of time the company has to file schedules of its assets and liabilities, according to a Thursday court filing.

The company asked to be allowed 90 days from the date of its bankruptcy petition to file the schedules, rather than the 30 days traditionally allowed under bankruptcy code.

Additionally, WaMu asked the court to waive its requirement to file an equity list.

WaMu said it would be unable to file the schedules on time due to the demands on its limited resources.

Washington Mutual, a Seattle-based savings and loan holding company, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Sept. 26. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-12229.
