U.S. Energy Systems asks court to extend vote solicitation period

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, May 13 - U.S. Energy Systems, Inc. is seeking an extension to its exclusive period to solicit votes on its plan of reorganization, according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

The company wants to extend its exclusive solicitation period to Aug. 26 from May 28.

U.S. Energy Systems said it needs more time to liquidate its Plymouth Envirosystems Inc. shares and collect proceeds from Chapter 5 avoidance actions before it can file an amended reorganization plan.

A hearing is scheduled for May 26.

U.S. Energy Systems, a New York-based owner of green power and clean energy and resources, filed for bankruptcy on Jan. 9, 2008. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-10054.
