S&P rates Sun Life debentures A

S&P said it assigned its A debt rating to Sun Life Financial Inc.’s issuance of fixed- to floating-rate subordinated debentures due 2035. The bonds are callable at par at year 10.

Sun Life will use the proceeds for general corporate purposes, which may include investments in subsidiaries, repayment of indebtedness and other strategic investments.
