SIGA Technologies committee looks to hire Proskauer Rose as counsel

By Kali Hays

New York, Nov. 6 – SIGA Technologies, Inc.’s official committee of unsecured creditors asked for authorization to hire Proskauer Rose LLP as its legal counsel, according to a Thursday motion with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

If approved, the hiring will be retroactive to Oct. 8.

Proskauer will advise the committee in any negotiations with SIGA, represent the committee in meetings and court appearances and assist it in a review and analysis of the company’s financial state and any proposed plan, according to the motion.

Attorneys will be paid an hourly rate between $345 and $1,400 and will seek expense reimbursement from the court.

A hearing to consider the motion is set for Dec. 9.

Based in New York, SIGA Technologies develops and commercializes solutions for serious unmet medical needs and biothreats. The company filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 16 under Chapter 11 case number 14-12623.
