Fitch affirms Regional Container Lines

Fitch Ratings said it affirmed Regional Container Lines PCL's national long-term rating at BBB+(tha) on its outstanding senior unsecured debentures due 2009.

The outlook remains stable.

The rating reflects the company's established market position in the intra-Asia container shipping industry, Fitch said. This is largely supported by its extensive network coverage in the Asia-Pacific region, a large fleet of relatively young vessels and the frequent sailing schedule, the agency said.

The rating is primarily constrained by the cyclical nature of the shipping industry and the highly volatile freight rates, Fitch added.
