S&P: PSS World on positive watch

Standard & Poor's said it placed its ratings on PSS World Medical Inc., including the BB corporate credit rating, on Creditwatch with positive implications.

"The Creditwatch listing reflects its belief that the ratings on PSS could be raised shortly after the company's fiscal-second-quarter earnings conference call, scheduled for Oct. 29, 2009," said S&P credit analyst Jesse Juliano.

The agency previously said it could raise its ratings on PSS if the company is able to offset the potential impact of the rising uninsured population through operating efficiencies, new customers, and expanded relationships with existing customers, while maintaining its improved financial position.
