Protective Life files automatic shelf registration

Knoxville, Tenn., June 26 - Protective Life Corp. and its subsidiaries PLC Capital Trust VI, PLC Capital Trust VII and PLC Capital Trust VIII jointly filed an automatic shelf registration in an S-3-ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration for the parent company covers debt securities, preferred stock, common stock, depositary shares, warrants, stock purchase contracts and units.

The subsidiaries' registration covers preferred securities guaranteed by Protective Life.

Securities may be convertible.

Proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes.

Protective Life is a financial holding company based in Birmingham, Ala.
