Pioneer files automatic shelf registration

Knoxville, Tenn., Jan. 14 - Pioneer Natural Resources Co., with Pioneer Natural Resources USA, Inc. as a guarantor, filed an automatic shelf registration in an S-3-ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers debt securities, common stock, preferred stock, depositary shares, warrants, stock purchase contracts, stock purchase units and guarantees of debt securities.

Securities may be convertible.

Proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes.

Pioneer is an Irving, Texas-based independent oil and gas exploration and production company.
