Patriot Coal posts $18.28 million operating loss for May; revenues up

Pittsburgh, June 21 - Patriot Coal Corp. posted an $18.28 million operating loss for May on $153.11 million in total revenues, according to its monthly operating report filed Friday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
In comparison, Patriot Coal reported a $15.37 million operating loss for April on $127.9 million in total revenues.
The net loss for May was $33 million, widening from a $26.61 million April net loss.
The company had $206.66 million in cash and cash equivalents as of May 31, up from $185.01 million at the end April.
Patriot Coal, a St. Louis-based miner, producer and seller of thermal coal, filed for bankruptcy on July 9, 2012 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. The case was transferred to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri under Chapter 11 case number 12-51502.
