Luminent looks to hire Protiviti as financial adviser

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Oct. 28 - Luminent Mortgage Capital, Inc. requested court approval to hire Protiviti Inc. as its financial adviser, according to a Tuesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland.

The financial adviser's duties will include negotiating with creditors and other parties in interest, evaluating claims and prosecuting related court actions, helping the company file and obtain approval of a plan of reorganization and disclosure statement and preparing cash flow projections and valuations.

Luminent, a San Francisco-based real estate investment trust that invests in mortgage-backed securities and loans, filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 5. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-21389.
