S&P affirms Lithuania

Standard & Poor’s said it affirmed its A-/A-2 long- and short-term foreign and local currency sovereign credit ratings on the Republic of Lithuania.

The outlook is stable.

S&P said the ratings on Lithuania reflect the country’s strong fiscal position and its membership of the euro zone since January 2015. They are also supported by what S&P views as generally effective policymaking that focuses on prudent fiscal management, energy supply diversification, and market reforms.

The ratings are primarily constrained by Lithuania's modest income levels; these remain substantially lower than those in most other euro zone members.
