Moody's rates LG note Baa3

Moody's Investors Service said it assigned a provisional Baa3 rating to LG Electronics Inc.'s proposed dollar-denominated senior unsecured note and affirmed LG's Baa3 issuer rating.

The ratings reflect the company's strong position in the global consumer electronics market with well recognized brands and a diversified business portfolio ranging from home appliances and handsets to digital consumer products and flat panel displays, the agency said.

The ratings also incorporate LG's somewhat leveraged financial position compared to its peers, Moody's said it added.
