Fitch affirms Inter-American

Fitch Ratings said it affirmed the Inter-American Development Bank's long-term issuer default rating at AAA and short-term issuer default rating at F1+.

The ratings primarily reflect the bank's intrinsic strengths, Fitch said.

The bank is highly capitalized, as reflected by an equity-to-asset ratio of 23.4% at the end of September 2011, Fitch said.

The recently approved capital increase should have only a moderate effect on intrinsic capitalization as it mostly comprises callable capital rather than paid-in capital, the agency added.
