Markit says U.S. leveraged loans index rose 0.45% in week of Jan. 30

New York, Feb. 6 - The Markit iBoxx USD Leveraged Loans index gained 0.45% for the week of Jan. 30, compared to 0.66% for the week of Jan. 23, according to data from Markit Group Ltd.

Meanwhile, the Markit iBoxx USD Liquid Leveraged Loans was up 0.44% last week, versus a 0.93% in the Jan. 23 week.

Year to date, the Leveraged Loans index is up 2.48% and the Liquid Leveraged Loans index has gained 3.28%.

The average bid in North America was 92.47, compared to 92.37 for the week of Jan. 23.

"The rally in loans has been convincingly strong," said Otis Casey, director and loan market analyst at Markit.

"After a week filled with encouraging economic data, we expect attention to shift back to the issue of sovereign risk," Casey added.
